I recently bought a "master-slave" extension lead at ALDI. The purpose of this one is to switch off any PC accessoires as soon as you turn off the pc. Pretty good idea - that saves power. Well... but just in theory. See the picture with NO devices plugged in, just the plain extension lead.
It takes 16 Watts, all day long! This is 140 kWh a year. Amazing.
